UNFORTUNATELY, THE GRANT WE APPLIED FOR TO THE 1998 PARK AND RECREATION TRUST FUND, UH, WAS NOT, WE WERE NOT AWARDED A GRANT IN THIS CASE, UH, OUT OF 103 GRANTS ACROSS THE STATE, ONLY 33 WERE FUNDED.

AND THERE WERE ACCORDING TO MY RECREATION CONSULTANT, THERE WERE SEVEN APPLICATIONS FOR SWIMMING POOLS, AND NONE OF THEM WERE FUNDED.

UH, WE CAN'T REAPPLY NEXT YEAR.

MY RECREATION CONSULTANT ALSO TOLD ME THAT THIS YEAR, SEVERAL OF LAST YEAR'S GRANTS WERE FUNDED THIS YEAR.

AND WE CAN REAPPLY IN THE NEXT FUNDING CYCLE.

ANY QUESTIONS, IT WILL START, UH, WE WILL GET THE INFORMATION IN DECEMBER AND PROBABLY THE GRANT WILL HAVE TO BE IN IF IT'S S SAME TIME SCHEDULE AS ISSUE.

AND I WOULD LIKE TO SESSIONS SESSION CRUEL BECAUSE WE CAN'T DO IT IN ONE SESSION BEGINNING, SOMETIME IN SEPTEMBER, DISCUSS SOME FUNDING ALTERNATIVES AND MAYBE EVEN SCALE BACK ON THE SCORE OR THE POINT.

BUT WE NEED, WE NEED TO HAVE SOME TYPE OF, EVEN IF IT'S ON FOR 50 PEOPLE, MAYBE OUT PLAYING IS TOO AMBITIOUS, I DON'T KNOW, BUT AT LEAST, AND I'LL VOLUNTEER WITH ONE OF US, NEED TO MAYBE GO TO A SWIMMING SITE IN A TRIANGLE OR SOMETHING, BUT WE NEED TO TRY TO GET THIS BUILDING FOR LESS MONEY.

AND I JUST THINK NO FLOOD TOWN, THIS SIDE WITH POLLUTED WATERS, WE NEED TO HAVE A SWIMMING POOL FOR THE CITY.

YOU KNOW, I THINK MAYBE THERE'S SOME LOCAL MONEY AVAILABLE AT THE COUNTY, A FAIR ART TABLE.

WE CAN COMPARE THIS SHOULD MAYBE WORK SESSION.

AND A SWIMMING POOL IS A BIG CHUNK OF MONEY.

AND IT'S ONE OF THOSE THINGS WE'LL HAVE TO FINANCE ONE WAY OR ANOTHER.

WHAT WE WERE PROPOSING TO DO IS CHANGE THE LAND USE ORDINANCE IN TERMS OF WHAT THE MINIMUM ELEVATION FOR A NEW CONSTRUCTION OR A SUBSTANTIAL REHAB CURRENTLY IS THAT NINE FEET ABOVE THE MEAN SEA LEVEL.

AND WE'RE ASKING THE BOARD TO CHANGE THAT TO 10 FEET.

UM, REASON BEING, WE HAD A FAIRLY SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF DAMAGE CAUSED BY HURRICANE FRAN AND WITH TWO PROPERTIES AT THE NINE FOOT, IT WAS NOT A SIGNIFICANT STORM.

UM, WE FEEL AS IMPORTANT TO GO AHEAD AND RAISE IT UP TO 10 FEET, TO BE BETTER PREPARED FOR A FUTURE STORM.

ONE OF THE POTENTIAL OR TWO POTENTIAL BENEFITS OF DOING THIS ONE IS THIS, ALONG WITH SOME OTHER STEPS COULD HELP LOWER OUR FLOOD INSURANCE RATES.

THE OTHER THING IS WE HAVE A GRANT PENDING FOR THE WOODROW COMMUNITY, WHICH WILL ALLOW US RAISE HOUSES TO THE 10 FOOT MARK.

IF WE GO AHEAD AND PASS THIS CONTRACTOR, IT WAS JUST A CLARIFICATION FOR DEVELOPERS, LETTING THEM KNOW THAT WE'RE NOT EXPANDING THE AREA THAT'S IN THE FLOOD, PLAIN, JUST SIMPLY PUTTING IN PLACE A, A STRONGER STANDARD TO PROTECT PEOPLE.

WOULD YOU PLEASE REITERATE WHAT THIS, WHAT EFFECT THIS WOULD HAVE ON A HOUSE THAT MIGHT BE DAMAGED BY SOMETHING OTHER THAN A FLOOD OR A HURRICANE, WHETHER THEY WOULD HAVE TO THEN JACK UP THE HOUSE? I DON'T RECALL WHAT THE CIRCUMSTANCES ARE.

THAT'S ALREADY IN PLACE NOW THAT IF THEY'RE BELOW THE NINE FOOT, THEY WOULD HAVE TO JACK UP THE HOUSE TO 10, OUR TWO TO THE NINE FOOT.

LIKEWISE, IF, IF THIS HAPPENS, THEY WOULD HAVE TO GO TO THE 10 FOOT.

SO IF THEY'RE ALREADY BELOW NINE, THE COST WOULD BE FAIRLY INSIGNIFICANT TO GO THAT ADDITIONAL FOOT.

IF THEY'RE ALREADY HAVING TO RAISE THE HOUSE, WHAT, WHAT LET'S SEE AS I THINK IS IT, YOU COULD STRETCH.

IT REQUIRES PUTTING A FLORIAN BASICALLY IS WHAT YOU'RE SAYING.

WHEREAS IF SOMEBODY WAS GOING TO BE DOING SOME RENOVATIONS, THE SALEM AND THE WALLS OR WHATEVER, WE WOULDN'T FORCE THEM TO COME IN.

ASHLEY, IT WOULD LOWER THE FLOOD INSURANCE RATES FOR THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY, BY THIS, ALONG WITH OTHER STEPS, THIS IS LIKE THE IMPORTANT STEP THAT THE CITY WOULD HAVE TO DO IT IN ITSELF WILL NOT EARN US A BETTER RATING OR INSURANCE, BUT IT PUTS US MUCH, MUCH CLOSER TO GETTING THE LOWER RATE.

BUT NOW, IF WE HAVE SOMEONE WHO IS LIVING IN WOODROW AND THE HOUSE IS NOT UP TO THE STANDARD, BECAUSE IT WAS GRANDFATHERED IN NOT UP TO THE NINE FOOT STANDARD, IS THEIR INSURANCE GOING TO CURL UP BECAUSE NOW THEY DO NOT MEET THE COMMUNITY STANDARD.

NO, YOU DON'T THINK THERE WOULD BE ANY PROBLEM WITH THEM.

I CAN UNDERSTAND WHY RAISIN WOULD LOWER THEIR OVERALL INSURANCE OVERALL POTENTIAL DAMAGE POPULATION EVERYWHERE.
