HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION IS THE PUBLIC COMMISSION APPOINTED BY THE CITY OF NEW BERNS, BOARD OF ALDERMAN'S RESPONSIBLE FOR PRESERVING AND SAFEGUARDING NEW BURNS LOCALLY DESIGNATED HISTORIC DISTRICTS DOWNTOWN IN RIVERSIDE BASED ON US DEPARTMENT OF INTERIOR GUIDELINES, STATE STATUTES, CITY ORDINANCES, AND NEW BERNS HISTORIC GUIDELINES.

TWO OF THE MAJOR TASKS OF HPC INCLUDE APPROVING APPLICATIONS FOR CERTIFICATE APPROPRIATENESS AND PREVENTING DEMOLITION OF THE HISTORIC STRUCTURES.

DUE TO NEGLECT, H B C HOLDS A, A QUASI-JUDICIAL HEARING ON AN APPLICATION FOR A CERTIFICATE APPROPRIATENESS.

THE COMMISSION HERE IS SWORN TESTIMONY AND EVIDENCE PROVIDED BY THE APPLICANT, BY PARTIES WHO RECEIVED NOTICE OF THE HEARING AND OTHERS WHO CAN JUSTIFY THAT THEY HAVE RELEVANT COMMENTS.
