UM, AND THIS IS A GROUP PROJECT.

UM, AS YOU NOTED FROM PROPOSAL, WE'RE ASKING FOR A WORKING PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CITY OF NEW BERN, UM, WITH THE GOAL OF IMPROVING THE PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT AT THE HENDERSON PARK STANLEY WHITE CENTER.

AND I BELIEVE MOST OF YOU ARE PROBABLY FAMILIAR WITH LEADERSHIP CRAVING.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE NOT, IT'S A PROGRAM THAT IS ORGANIZED BY THE NEWBURN AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, BUT INVOLVES ORGANIZATION, UM, FROM MANY FACETS IN THE COMMUNITY, PRIVATE SECTOR, PUBLIC SECTOR, AND INDIVIDUALS.

AND THROUGH THIS, WE HAVE A CLASS OF 25 INDIVIDUALS THAT HAD A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPERIENCE A SILVER AREAS WITHIN THE COUNTY.

AND JUST WANT TO RECOGNIZE THAT THE CITY OF NEW BERN WAS AN EXCELLENT HOST FOR THIS PROGRAM.

THEY ALLOWED US TO LEARN ABOUT, UH, UH, CITY AND COUNTY GOVERNMENT, UM, ALSO LEARNED ABOUT THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM, UM, POLICE DEPARTMENT.

AND SO WE, I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR THAT, BUT, UM, AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PROPOSAL, UH, WE HAVE A PLAN SET FOR, UH, INVOLVING THIS PARTNERSHIP AND WE'RE ASKING FOR THE CITY SUPPORT AND I'M GOING TO ASK, UH, GLEN MCCOY, ONE OF OUR CLASS MEMBERS TO COME FORWARD AND GIVE YOU SOME DETAILS ON THE PROJECT.

THIS IS A COMPANY, I THINK IT'S DONE SEVERAL PROJECTS IN THIS AREA AND WE KIND OF PRESENTED TO THEM BECAUSE AT THIS STAGE, WE'RE NOT SURE JUST WHAT OUR BUDGET'S GOING TO BE AND JUST WHAT, UH, UH, HOW WE'LL WORK OUT THE DETAILS.

BUT WE'RE LOOKING AT IT AT ABOUT A $50,000 PROJECT WE'D LIKE TO DO MORE, JUST DEPENDS ON WHAT KIND OF FUNDRAISING WE CAN DO AND HOW MUCH SUPPORT WE GIVE FROM THE CITY.

BUT WHAT WE'RE PROPOSING TO DO IS, UH, BUY THE EQUIPMENT.

UH, AND AGAIN, THIS IS SOMETHING WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TO LEARN AS PART OF A CITY PROJECT THAT WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TO GO TO SOME TYPE OF BIDDING, OR CAN WE PICK THE EQUIPMENT AND, AND, YOU KNOW, THERE'S A LOT OF QUESTIONS.

THERE'S PROBABLY MORE QUESTIONS THAN THERE ARE ANSWERS, RIGHT, IN THAT WE THINK WE'VE GOT TO GO, BUT WE NEED SOME GUIDANCE AND SOME HELP TO GET THAT.

AND WE HAVEN'T EVEN STARTED, UH, IT WOULD BE OUR INTENT TO SOLICIT THE COMPANIES WHO SPONSORED US AND CRAVING LEADERSHIP CRAVING.

IT WOULD BE OUR INTENT TO SOLICIT, UH, COMPANIES WHO ARE SPONSORS OF THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

WE'D ALSO LOOK AT A GENERAL MAILING.

WE'D ALSO LOOK TO SOME OF THE MEMBERS OF LEADERSHIP CRAVE IN 2001 WHO ARE HERE TONIGHT.

AND LASTLY, AND MAYBE MOST IMPORTANTLY, UH, WE'D LIKE TO THINK ABOUT HAVING A NAME, SPONSOR, SOMEONE WHO WOULD MATCH THE CITY'S FUNDS FOR EXAMPLE, AND WE COULD NAME IT THE, UH, THE PARK AFTER THAT PERSON.

AGAIN, WE DON'T KNOW WHETHER THAT'S POSSIBILITY OR NOT, BUT, UH, THAT WAS STARTING TO BE A WAY TO RAISE SOME SIGNIFICANT FUNDS ALL AT ONCE.

SO OUR GOAL WOULD BE 75, 25 FROM THE CITY 25 FROM THE NAME SPONSOR AND 25 FROM THE REST OF US.

WE THINK WE'RE ASSURED OF GETTING 40 AND WE THINK WE CAN DO A FINE PROJECT IF THAT'S ALL WE'RE ABLE TO.
